15 days on , Lolab villages face acute water scarcity

Kupwara:The inhabitants of the Maidanpora Lolab and its adjoining areas are facing acute shortage of drinking water since last ten days.
According to the reports reaching to the Inside Kashmir,the residents of Maidanpora Lolab and its adjoining areas are facing shortage of drinking water. The local residents allege that,from last ten days the area is  facing immense hardships due to lack of drinking water.
“We are facing shortage of drinking water due to poor electricity as our drinking water is dependable on electricity.In our area electricity mainly remains off due to which we are struggling to get proper drinking water.We have to fetch water from far and wide, we are longing for a drop”added by Gh Mohi-ud-din Mir
Sonuallah Mir, a local resident said that ,they  urge Higher Up’s to install a generator here for lifting as area is facing electricity black out.
Meanwhile Concerned JE Jalal Ahmad told Inside Kashmir over Phone that, due to regular power cuts they are not able to provide drinking water to the area on regular basis.


When IK contacted SDM Lolab Ajaz Ahmad Bhat said,that,”actually PHE mechanical and PHE civil casual and contractual employees were on strike,but we have posted permanent employees on different stations and the issue will get resolve at an earliest.Issue of electricity cuts  is other main cause which is only source of lifting water. Efforts   are on to solve this issue”.
