1500m Long Water Supply Project Inaugurated in Singrunpati Warsun, Kupwara

Kupwara: A 1500m long water supply project was inaugurated on Monday here in Singrunpati Warsun a remote area in Kupwara district.

As per the statement received by this newspaper Inside Kashmir reads,struggling from last 75 years to get water facilities in the area,the Indian Army has provided the water supply to the remotest area of Kupwara which is nearly about 22km away from its district headquarter.

75 years post-independence,residents of a remote village in Kupwara starts receiving water through water supply project constructed by Indian Army.The newly constructed water supply project at Singrunpati Warsun,was inaugurated by Kupwara Terriers in presence of Col Swaraj Bhattacharya,CO Kupwara Terriers,Member,DDC Kralpora Kupwara Adv Masrat,Sarpanch and locals were also present during the inaugural ceremony.The long water supply project is about 1500m long and the project will benefit around 60 underprivileged families residing in the remote village of Singrunpati.This remote village has been lacking basic amenities like water and electricity in the 21st century.

Lt Col DVS Pathania,Warsun company commander,Kupwara Terriers undertook this novel infra development project with an aim to ensure long-term sustainability of water supply and ameliorate the quality of life of the deserving residents of this remote village under the ambit of Sadhbhavana”the statement reads,

During the inaugral ceremony,Kupwara Terriers organises a medical camp in order to provide them medical facilities to the people of the area.The medical camp was led by Capt Jayakrishnan,Medical Officer,Kupwara Terriers and his team and witnessed a huge response from villagers, with more than 300 residents,including men,women and children gathered seeking medical care.

Capt Jayakrishnan also took this opportunity to sensitize the gathering on the new Omicron strain of Covid-19 and protective measures to be taken to prevent its spread and symptoms to identify an infection.

The inhabitants of the Singrunpati Warsun, Kupwara has applauded the initiative which was taken by Kupwara Terriers on Monday morning.The locals of the area were assured that such initiatives will be taken in future as well”,

Member,District Development Kralpora Adv Masrat while communicating with the media at sideline said “such initiatives is really a welcome step and i personally thank to Kupwara Terries for visiting these remote areas of kupwara as such area are being neglected at every step.We should took part in these initiatives as our far flung areas are lacking with basic facilities”,

Being as representative of the area I have raised these issues number of times but no avail till date and i think district administration as well as civil govt is acting like mute spectators and are doing nothing on ground here”, adding “Indian Army is taking  these initiatives and are providing them basic amenities like water,road and electricity is absolutely appreciable step”,

An old women on the occasion said “we are most thankful to Indian Army who made our dreams true today after providing water supply project about after 75 years.We are being unfairly and no one is paying any kind of attention towards our area” she said,

Meanwhile,Advocate Masrat,DDC Kralpora and Gh Hassan,Sarpanch and local resident’s have extended their heartfelt gratitude towards Kupwara Terriers.

Initiatives likes these are reassuring not only because it epitomizes commitment and dedication of the IA towards the people of Jammu & Kashmir but also because in these initiatives exists a potential of socially uplifting a section of the society which not only suffers socio-economically but also lives under a constant threat of geopolitical instability.(IK)
