Kupwara:- A complete shutdown is being observed across Kupwara to commemorate the 35th death anniversary of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) founder Muhammad Maqbool Bhat, who was hanged in New Delhi’s Tihar jail on this day in 1984.
The strike called by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) evoked a complete response as all commercial establishments including shops remained closed to mark ‘Bhat’s anniversary Day.’
According to sources, Restrictions have been also imposed in the native village of Maqbool Bhat by the administration against any unlawful activity.
The roads wore a deserted look while only a few private vehicles were spotted plying.
Rolls of concertina wires were placed on main roads and a heavy contingent of police and Paramilitary CRPF men were deployed to avoid any law and order problem.
