Handwara, March 14: The Assistant Director of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Mudasir Ahmad, conducted market checking in Handwara and imposed Rs 28500 fine.

During the inspection, a fine of Rs 28500 was recovered as fine from erring traders who were found involved in violating different sections of essential Food Safety and Standards Act, 2005.

A huge quantity of substandard adulterated milk, fruits, vegetables, spices and polythene bags were also seized during the checking.

Assistant Commissioner Food Safety said that the market checking would be further intensified in the coming days to ensure that essential commodities are sold to customers at Government approved rates.
