Youth have the power to determine the future: Irfan Manhas

SRINAGAR, Oct 22: Almost a month long 2nd Edition of Big Downtown Football Festival under the banner and sponsored by Jammu and Kashmir Football Association concluded here at Islamia College, Srinagar on Wednesday with 32 teams participating in it. The final match was played between SCFA vs Pologround XI. In the final match SCFA defeated Pologround by 3-1 goals and lifted the winner’s trophy among a lot of cheers by the large gathering of spectators.
Speaking on the occasion of closing ceremony Chief Guest and Youth Leader Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party, Mr. Irfan Manhas said that Youth are the backbone of a society and they have the power to determine the future. He applauded the organizing committee for successfully pulling-off such a wonderful sports event despite of infrastructural challenges and limited support from the government authorities.
He stressed upon the burning issue and a bigger challenge of drug menace in the society that is directly affecting the young generation. It is the prime responsibility of the Government in place, the civil society, our religious leaders and all stakeholders to ensure the youth are protected from this social evil.
He emphasized the need of identifying the drug mafia and decimate the structures that run their network. He further said that the drug mafia are the real perpetrators and needs to be brought to justice instead of targeting the addicted youth who are merely the victims.
Other dignitaries who were present in the closing ceremony included Mr. Sandeep Gupta IPS SP City North, Mr. Rayees Ahmad Lone and Mr. Umer Munshi, Owners of Mega Constructions, Mr. Farhan Jahzaib, SDPO Khanyar, Mr. Taseer Ahmad, SHO Nowhatta, Mr. Khurshid Ahmad Baba, Former International Footballer, Mr. Altaf Ur Rahman, Sports Director, Islamia College, Ace Footballer Mr. Mehraj Ud din Wadoo, Mr. Abdul Majeed Kakroo, Former International Footballer & India Captain, Mr. Junaid Baba, Director Hedge Forex, Mr. Bilal Ahmad, Owner of Asia Marbles, Mr. Manzoor Ahmad Qazi, Ex-Football Player JKSRTC and the functionaries of Jammu and Kashmir Football Association.
The Organizing Committee consisted of Mr. Riyaz Ahmad Mir, Mr. Gulzar Ahmad Mir, Mr. Bilal Ahmad Wani, Mr. Jan Mohammad Malik, Mr. Adil Ashai, Mr. Aqib Aslam Khan who thanked all the Dignititaries, Jammu and Kashmir Football Association, the Organizers, Sponsors, Co-Sponsors, Local Police, Principal Islamia College and especially the youth of downtown who were present in large numbers for making the event a grand success.
