Guwahati, 27 April : In response of many journalists organization Memorandum the Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal today announced Rs 50 lakh medical insurance cover per person for Journalists of Assam who are exposing themselves to the virus.
There will be Rs 50 lakh medical insurance cover per person for frontline Journalists of Assam Journalists Association of Assam ,(JAA) and National Union of Journalists India NUJI) has welcomed the decision of the State Government to provide health insu
rance coverage to journalists who are working in high risk environment in view of the COVID-19 outbreak. In a statement by NUJI National Vice President Bhupen Goswami and JAA president Dhirendra Nath Chakravatty and General Secretary Dalim Phukan, the NUJI & JAA expressed its gratitude to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal ,Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and for taking the timely step keeping in view of the health hazard faced by the journalists in the line of duty. NUJI & JAA had submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister recently and requested to consider providing journalists health coverage.
