Kupwara, July 16: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad Lone today distributed cheques worth Rs.1.68 crore among 1673 beneficiaries of construction workers at a function organized by Labour Department here today.
On the occasion, the ADC said that the Labour Department provides financial assistance to the registered construction workers for their socio-economic upliftment. He said that a total 1673 cases have been sanctioned with a financial assistance of Rs.1,68,26,884 during the current financial year so far by the department. These cases include 12 Death cases with an amount of Rs.24.60 lakh, 3 cases of higher education with assistance of Rs.1.50 lakh, 3 chronic disease assistance cases with amount of Rs.2,64,198, 23 medical assistance cases with an amount of Rs.3,38,686 and 1632 lower education assistance cases with an amount of Rs.1,36,14,000.
The Assistant Labour Commissioner informed that the department is holding awareness programmes from July 21 for construction workers at block level where on spot renewal of labour cards shall also be done under the guidance of JKBOCWW Board.
