Kupwara, May 20: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad Lone today convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the arrangements for departure of migrant labourers, stranded in the district during lockdown, to return them back to their homes.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC), Chief Medical Officer, ARTO Kupwara and other concerned.
It was informed in the meeting that 732 migrant workers (stranded persons) in the district have registered themselves so far with Labour Department Kupwara to return back to their homes.
During the meeting, threadbare discussion was held for departure of these persons. Two venues have been identified at Government Higher Secondary School Handwara and District Police Lines Kupwara where from the departure of migrant persons will take place. Besides, two medical teams have been deployed by CMO Kupwara for screening of the stranded persons before their departure.
It was given out that transport shall be provided by RTC on the requisition of ALC Kupwara. It was also given out that ARTO Kupwara shall deploy two teams at the departure venues to ensure hassle free transport provided to stranded persons.
A Help Desk with Phone No. 9906708853 has already been established in the office of Assistant Labour Commissioner Kupwara for registration of persons stranded in the district and willing to return their homes outside.
District Evaluation & Statistics Officer, Mohammad Ishaq has been nominated to supervise the overall process of departure of stranded persons from the district.
The ADC directed the concerned officers to keep close coordination with each other for facilitating the successful departure of migrant workers to their homes.
