Kupwara: Befitting tribute to the Gallant Son of Lolab,Rifleman Abdul Hamid Chara,winner of “Shaurya Chakra”,Army Good Will School Chandigam Lolab renamed as “Rifleman Hamid Chara AGS Chandigam.
As per the statement, In a unique initiative to give a befitting tribute to the Gallant Son of Lolab,Rifleman Abdul Hamid Chara,Shaurya Chakra,a Renaming Ceremony was held on tuesday at Army Goodwill School,Chandigam Lolab.
Rifleman Abdul Hamid Chara,Shaurya Chakra made the supreme sacrifice of his life in a Counter Terrorist Operation in Lolab while fighting with the terrorists.He was son of soil and Lolab is his birth place.The Sacrifice of Brave son of Lolab,Rifleman Abdul Hamid Chara of 162 TA remains entrenched in the larger conscience of the locals as hero who fought against hardcore terrorists in the year 2000 during the counter terrorism operation while he was serving with 18 RR Battalion.
He was singularly responsible for neutralisation of LET commander identified as Mussa while fighting against heavy odds.
In honour of brave son of Lolab,on tuesday AGS Chandigam was renamed as Hamid Chara Army Goodwill School, Chandigam,Unveiling of the school name was done by Mrs Gulshan Akhtar wife of late Rifleman Abdul Hamid Chara,Shourya Chakra .
Several dignitaries from Indian Army,Civil administration,Police,CAPF and others were present to grace the occasion including Brigadier AK Pandey,Commander 8 Sector RR, Mr Haji Farooq,DDC Vice Chairman, Kupwara,DSP Lolab,SDM,Lolab,BDC Sogam, Mrs Nagini Begum and several others.The event included inauguration of new School board followed by the breathtaking Cultural programme by the students,Felicitation of Mrs Gulshan Akhter wife of Rifleman Abdul Hamid Chara,Shaurya Chakra.Commander 8 Sector RR,Brig AK Pandey and DDC Vice Chairman,Kupwara Mr Haji Farooq also addressed the gathering and students through their encouraging words.
Commander 08 Sector A K Pandey said that “he made the supreme sacrifice of his life in a Counter Terrorist Operation in Lolab while fighting with the terrorists.He was son of soil and Lolab is his birth place.The Sacrifice of Brave son of Lolab,Rifleman Abdul Hamid Chara of 162 TA remains entrenched in the larger conscience of the locals as hero who fought against hardcore terrorists in the year 2000 during the counter terrorism operation while he was serving with 18 RR Battalion”,
We have changed the name of this institution and renamed it as “Rifleman Hamid Chara AGS Chandigam.It’s a proud moment for all mainly for Lolab and Kupwara as he was from Lolab.We salute his sacrifice as he sacrificed his life for the nation”,he further added,
Haji Farooq Mir,VC,DDC Kupwara,while speaking on the occasion said that “the rifleman Abdul Hamid Chara made the supreme sacrifice of his life for the country and everyone must remember his sacrifice”,
“Feeling grateful as my father sacrificed life for the country.Peased to see that this institution has renamed the name of the institution and put my father’s name of this institution”,Daughter of late Riflema Hamid Chara,who sacrificed his life for the nation.
A variety of cultural programmes,traditional and patriot programmes were also part of the event and these programmes were presented by the school children’s.
The event concluded with a group Photograph and National Anthem.
The event and the initiative was appreciated by all as it will motivate the youth and students including channelize their energies in positive direction.
