Amid Covid19 Lockdown,Forest Smugglers on High in North Lolab,Authorities unmoved

Amid COVID19 Lockdown and threat smugglers in North Lolab are taking full advantage of this lockdown as they are axing young and genertic forest trees.

According to  Reports reaching  Inside Kashmir, highly influential and experienced smugglers  of Branath Khurhama and Kuligam Lolab Including men and women are looting green wealth  in this critical Juncture while  whole world is under Lockdown.

“At one side world is fighting with Covid19 but in other hand people of Branath Khurhama and Kuligam Lolab are busy to clear the forests In shallgund Lolab as the whole forest will be wiped out  very soon, if this process continues,” said one of the local.

Inside Kashmir has learnt through multiple sources that locals are also indulged in this heinous crime .

Some days ago SHO Kuligam, Mudasir Ahmad , made announcements on PA and warned people of dire consequences on any movement .

Soon after the announcement was made, just after two days people came out of homes and started cutting down planted irrespective of size .

Sources  told this reporter that People came out  with multiple groups and started  axing forest especially in  Shallgund Lolab under compartment no 53 and 54.

Subsequently few days back, the forest department came in action and seized  dozens of axes from forest smugglers.

With no majour  impact of this raid , stubborn locals after only  one  single day started same activity again .
“The unfortunate part  of this crime is , people at the helm of affairs are nowhere . They are not taking any impactful step to curb deforestation . If it continues ,the day is not far when we will not see a single forest plant here “, said another local who remained anonymous .

Meanwhile  People of North Lolab  are requesting concerned authorities  to take necessary step and make such individuals example for others by charging them under  accurate law .
