Amid lockdown:Muslims perform last rites of Punjab Sikh in Wakura Ganderbal

Muslims of Wakura village in this central Kashmir district on Thursday performed the last rites of non local carpenter Sikh who died at his rented accommodation at Wakura.
Beautiful example of brotherhood, when Kashmiri women became emotional on the death of a Labourer(Carpenter) Ranveer Singh.
Locals said that it is very difficult to send the body to the native village of the deceased due to lockdown.
He said that he worked as a carpenter here from past many years.


According to reports in the absence of family members of the non local sikh, the local Muslims organised the last rites of the deceased Ranveer Singh from Punjab state and mourned his death as one of their own.
As the news of his death broke, locals rushed to her rented accommodation in Wakura Ganderbal and perform their last rites as per Jatt rites.
“We are saddened by his death. Actually entire neighbourhood mourns the demise. We gathered together and perform the last rites,” Ghulam Hassan a local, told.
