APPEAL TO GOVERNMENT FROM HAJ & UMRAH TOUR OPERATORS

2020 – A Year of Miseries and Loss for Hajj Umrah Organizers

In 2020 when entire global economy was hit, travel and tourism industry suffered the most. National and International Travel was bared and bookings were cancelled.
Travel Industry is a highly unsegmented market and many different pieces of services have to be arranged properly to make a complete pie. In these unprecendented and unusual circumstances, Hajj Umrah Organizers & Operators had the biggest blows where losses & debts of companies have seen an increase of 200% -300%.
In the midst of there season and bookings, they faced unprecedented challenges where companies cash flow and capital got stuck between different organizations and sectors.
Many Companies faced deady losses and some smaller companies even perished in the first 5 months of lockdown.
Kashmir accounts to nearly more then 200 Small and Medium Hajj umrah companies. All of them struggling to meet basic operational needs today.
It has been more then 650 days since companies had there last tours. Companies are moving towards bankruptcy effecting directly 3000-4000 citizens of the State/ UT.

Now after noticing such bad conditions of our sector and its Stakeholders, Jammu Kashmir Association of Haj & umrah companies (JKAHUC) is raising alarms and request authorities to help and rescue before its too late. PRESIDENT JKAHUC Appeals and Requests Authorities to consider the following:-

  1. Emergency Credit Line for Operators:
    To ease burden of Renewals / International Registrations / Maintainence and Rents.
    Electricity fee.
  2. Emergency Interest Waivers and Loan Extensions:
    To avoid bankruptcy and closures.

JKAHUC requests Hon’ble L.G Governor and specially appeals to CHAIRMAN JK BANK for there urgent consideration.
