Consumers worldwide spent a record ₹1.78 lakh crore ($23.4 billion) on mobile apps in the first quarter of the calendar year 2020, as per data from app analyst App Annie. Of this amount, consumers spent over ₹1.26 lakh crore ($16.7 billion) on games alone. Additionally, the average weekly time spent on Android apps grew 20% year-over-year, driven by coronavirus-induced lockdowns.
