Kupwara, April 06 : Deputy Commissioner(DC), Kupwara Anshul Garg today convened a meeting with Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad Lone and Assistant Commissioner Revenue Bashir Ahmad Bhat, to discuss the progress with regard to felling down of Female Russian Poplar (FRP) trees in the district as per the directionsof Hon’ble High Court.
The Deputy Commissioner was informed that the notice was already published in the leading News Papers with the direction to the general public to fell down all female Russian Poplar trees, on their lands within 05 days as per the order from Hon’ble High Court in view of the spread of Covid-19.
The DC impressed upon all Tehsildars and BDOs of the district to implement orders on ground in letter and spirit.
It was also ordered that the female Russian Poplar trees existing on Government Land (State/Kachchri) shall be fell down by the concerned Sarpanchs and the revenue accrued therefrom on account of Timber/Wood shall be deposited in concerned Panchyat Accounts, and in case of private lands, who so ever fails to fell down the female popular trees from their lands within 05 days the Sarpanch concerned shall take the possession of all such trees and get them extracted and revenue after sale/auctions shall go the Panchayat concerned alongwith photographs .
It was also given out that the exercise shall be monitored by the concerned BDC Chairpersons in their area of jurisdiction and they shall ensure that extractions of such trees accomplished within 05 days both from private as well a Govt. lands. The concerned BDO’s shall furnish daily progress report in the prescribed format countersigned by BDC Chairperson by 11:00 AM daily for compilation of District level report by District Panchayat Officer.
The meeting was informed that the BDC Chairpersons & Sarpanches have been authorized to move within their respective jurisdictions for the implementation of the directions.while as
Tehsildars and SHOs concerned have been orderded to extend their magisterial/ Police support to BDC Chairpersons/Sarpanchs who’s movement is permitted in their jurisdictions.
