BANDIPORA, JULY 15: The Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmed held an interaction with media persons of Bandipora district on Wednesday.
On the occasion the representatives of various Print and Electronic Media organizations interacted with the Deputy Commissioner and discussed several issues of public interest. The media persons also briefed the DC about the difficulties they face while covering events at ground level. They put forth the demand for establishment of press club at district headquarter Bandipora.
The DC assured the media persons that their genuine demands including establishment of press club will considered on priority.
Dr Owais said that media is a significant pillar in democracy for deliverance of transparent and accountable governance to the people. He said the district administration will be always available for coordination with the people who are engaged directly or indirectly in promoting development and wellbeing of the society.
He asked the media persons to act as bridge between the public and the government by highlighting the issues of the public so that government can act swiftly to provide relief to the people. He said the media plays an important role in providing feedback to the government with regard to the implementation of schemes and hoped that media persons shall help the district administration in providing good governance to the people by providing positive feedback so that administration can reach to its beneath.
Earlier media persons also highlighted some of the important issues including traffic mess in the district and delay in shifting of District Hospital to new complex. DC Bandipora assured that he will review the status of all the languishing projects and shall be completed at earliest.
The DC Bandipora also urged the media persons to work with dedication in these extraordinary times for the welfare of the community at large by playing proactive role in containing the Covid-19.
He also informed the media persons that various departments are sensitizing people about the precautionary measures to be taken to avert the spread of Covid-19 besides intensifying fumigation drives to sanitize public places, distributing hand sanitizers, masks and reading material including brochures, leaflets, regarding do’s and don’t among the people.
While highlighting the role of the journalists, he said that media’s cooperation and regular feedback will help the administration in improving the system for containment of the Covid-19. He appealed the people to follow the advisory issued by the department of Health and Medical Education, in this regard.
