Deported From Qatar, Top Jaish OGW Arrested From IGI Airport New Delhi : Police

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday claimed to have arrested a top Over Ground Worker (OGW) from Indra Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in New Delhi.

Police official said, a top Over Ground Worker (OGW) of Jaish e Mohammad militant outfit was arrested by a team of Kulgam Police from IGI Airport New Delhi after his deportation from Qatar.

He identified the arrested over ground worker (OGW) as Muneeb Ahmed Sofi S/O Bilal Ahmed Sofi a resident of Kanelwan Bejbehara.

The said OGW was in contact with a non-local militant Waleed Bhai of Jaish e Mohammad militant outfit, official added.

Meanwhile, Police in a statement issued said, A top OGW of banned militant organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Muneeb Ahmad Sofi S/O Bilal Ahmad Sofi R/O Kanelwan Bejbehara has been arrested by a team of Kulgam Police from IGI Airport New Delhi this morning after his deportation from Qatar.

Role of the said OGW surfaced in FIR no 58/2020 U/S 13, 18, 19, 38, 39 ULA(P) Act, the statement reads.

An accused arrested in the said case disclosed that he along with other OGWs were collecting money for JeM from various districts in Kashmir and were handing over the collected amount to Muneeb Ahmad Sofi who was in Qatar and was in contact with an active terrorist of JeM Waleed Bhai R/O Pakistan for purchase of arms and ammunition from Pakistan.

A lookout notice was published against Muneeb and a non-bailable warrant U/S 25 Police Act was obtained from the concerned court, the statement further reads.

Consequent to the deportation of the accused from Qatar to India, he was apprehended at IGI Airport and is being brought to Kulgam for further questioning and investigation, the statement ends.
