The 78-km Kupwara karnah a highway, the only all-weather road linking Karnah with the rest of the UT, was blocked due to multiple landslides triggered by heavy rains in karnah Sadhna top on Friday, officials said.
Vehicular traffic on the strategic highway was disrupted due to multiple landslides forcing over 40 vehicles to halt at chokibal.
“There were several landslides triggered by heavy rains on Sadhna top near khoniNallah and Dhana areas on the highway”, he added.
Men and machinery are at work to clear the highway of the debris.The reports said that over 40 vehicles mostly comprising trucks are stranded at chokibal, Kupwara, on the highway.
