Baramulla: Day after twin grenade attacks in North Kashmir’s Baramulla and Sopore town, Security forces arrested two persons over their alleged involvement in grenade attack in Baramulla’s Azad Gunjj.
Official said, a joint operation was launched by Army’s 46 RR, 53 BN CRPF and Baramulla Police in which two suspects were detained and after sustained interrogation they revealed that they lobbed the grenade on insistence of terrorists of LeT outfit.
” The aim of lobbing the grenade was to disturb order and vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in Baramulla and to motivate the youth into terrorists ranks and their sympathisers”, he said.
The official termed their arrest as a big success for maintaining peace and tranquillity in the town Baramulla.
The duo have been identified as Fayaz Ahmad Kumar alias Narsimha Son of Ghulam Qadir Kumar of Khanpora Baramulla and Aqib Sharif Bhat Son of Sharif Din Bhat of Syed Kareem Baramulla.
Official further said, Fayaz Ahmad Kumar @ Narsimha had been detained under PSA seven times and has 37 FIRs registered against him while as Aqib Sharif Bhat has 03 FIRs.
Meanwhile a case FIR NO 147/2020 U/S 307 IPC,7/27 I.A Act,18,20,39 ULA(P) Act has been already lodged.
The Case is under investigation and further leads are expected, he added.
It’s pertinent to mention, On 31-08-2020 (Monday) twin grenade attacks took place in Baramulla district, one was lobbed on an Army Convey at Azadgunj Baramulla which missed the intended target and exploded on roadside resulting in injuries to seven passers while the other grenade was lobbed on police post at bus stand Sopore which exploded without causing any injury or loss of life.
