Fear grips residents as leopards continue to roam in Nowpora area

Sopore, July 20:  Fear has gripped the residents of the Nowpora area in north Kashmir’s Sopore town as leopards continue to roam around freely.
For the last couple of days, the locals claimed that they are scared of leopards roaming around and they are not in a position to go out of their houses after 7 pm.
One of the residents, while talking to the Inside Kashmir said that We have confined ourselves to the four walls of our homes and our children are scared.
“Administration is taking no action to capture the leopards”, he alleged.
Residents appealed to the administration and Wildlife Department to take immediate steps to capture the leopards.
Earlier a day before, according to the locals, two sheep belonging to Suhail Ahmed were killed in a leopard attack after entering in a cattle shed during the night hours.
Meanwhile, Wildlife Warden North, Mohammad Maqbool Baba when contacted told, there is no possibility of leopards in the area. Adding that, we can’t believe it as no one has seen the leopard and dropped the call.
