Sopore : In order to boost health and dynamism of young budding generation, Department of Physical Education, Govt Degree College Sopore organized a road race for boys on the occasion of AZAADI KA AMRUT MAHOTSAV here on Thursday .
According to a statement issued to Press Trust Of Kashmir, that reads around 37 students from various departments of institution participated in the race and all the participants took part in event enthusiastically.
Before the commencement of the race students were given general instruction by Physical Training Instructor, Tahir Ramzan Bhat.
The race was flagged
off by the worthy Principal of the college Prof. Tariq Ahmad Wani along with other faculty
members of the college.
Exhibiting tremendous enthusiasm students covered the distance in a disciplined manner.The participants were received by the worthy Principal along with his team of teaching and non teaching staff.
The students who bagged 1st three positions were Hamid Ayoub of BG 1st semester followed by Owais Nabi of 2nd semester and Mubashir Mukhtar of 2nd semester with
2nd & 3rd position respectively.
The function concluded with a vote of thanks to the guests, college PTI Tahir Ramzan Bhat for his efforts in making the event a grand Success and a word of appreciation and encouragement to the students by the Principal GDC Sopore.
He was all praise for the contribution made by the Physical Education Department of the Institution by promoting non-cognitive skills for the all-round development of the students.
In his address Principal GDC Sopore
promised to put the college on sports calendar of state and country in a big way by ensuring
sports events round the year.
