Kupwara : An intense hailstorm damaged standing crops, vegetables, and apple orchids in the Dardpora and Harie villages of Kralpora area of Kupwara. The hailstorm continued for 30 minutes straight. Other areas received heavy rain. The road leading to Meelyal was also damaged.
Locals said that the hail storm was so powerful that everything was gone in just half an hour. While speaking to IK, one local from Harie Zakir Ahmad said “I have not seen such havoc in my life till now. Everything was lost, the hard work of months is lost, nothing remained”.
The powerful water flow damaged the road near Masjid tuba Kralpora. The vegetable fields have sustained 100 percent loss while orchids more than 90percent if locals are to be believed.
People of Dardpora and Harie appeal to the district administration to compile an assessment team and provide deserving relief to loss-bearers.
