Handwara:- Frequent traffic jams at main town Handwara and encroachment of foot paths have left pedestrians in distress while concern department is watching the scene as ‘mute-spectator’.
Shakeel Shah a local resident said, that the illegal parking on the road side in north Kashmir’s Handwara Town causes huge inconvenience to the people especially to school going children, patients and other commoners.
Ishrat Qaisar a colleage student, said that MC Handwara have given free hand to shopkeepers to encroach the foot paths and are allegedly taking Rs 30 daily as fine from them since many years.
Mohd Ashraf Dar a senior citizen told that we have seen many raids by MC Handwara so far but unable to understand why it failed to curb the mess completely.
He added the frequent traffic jams at main town Handwara is the main cause of huge inconvenience to the general public and the men-in-blue are unmoved.
People of Handwara and Students community have appealed Deputy Commissioner Kupwara to intervene into the matter at an earliest and ensure hassle-free traffic movement besides evicting encroachers.
