HARASSMENT OF JOURNALISTS AND COVID IMPACTS ON MEDIA TO BE FOCUS IN NUJ (I) NATIONAL EXECUTIVE MEETING

New Delhi, May 26: Media in India is currently facing a serious crisis and journalists are under economic stress. The impacts of Covid- 19 are going to far more disastrous than what we had apprehended.
This burning issue will be the main focus of the ensuing National Executive Body Meeting of National Union of Journalists (NUJ-India) scheduled to be held on May 30 through webinar.
According to Prasanna Mohanty, Secretary General of NUJ (I) the meeting going to be held in a different format bears much importance in the present context when both media and journalists are badly affected by Corona endemic.
The future of Indian media is at the crossroads and it requires redrafting the strategy for its survival. All these vital aspects will be the focus of the ensuing meeting.
The meeting scheduled to be presided over by Ras Bihari, President NUJ( I),  will adopt important resolutions to above effect along with discussion on important organizational matters.  
According to Secretary General Mr Mohanty  NUJ ( I)   will prepare a roadmap for the future and will decide plans and programmes to boost organization activities in its first Executive Body Meeting going to be held after the Biennial election taking both the outgoing and incoming  teams.
Apart from others issues, package for worst affected small and medium news papers and voice against exploitation of journalists will be prominently figured in the meeting.
NUJ ( I) will  go-ahead with keeping friendly relationship with all like-minded bodies of scribes and activities of International Federation of journalists ( IFJ)  will be expanded in the country with the active participation of the state units .All these point will also be  part of the agenda , informed  NUJ ( I).
