HEART ATTACKS , A SERIOUS CONCERN

Mir Muhammad Nayyar Azam

Heart diseases are nowadays increasing rapidly with a significant risk in both males as well as females , more and more number of youth are suffering from severe heart disorders and today media remains abuzz with the news of deaths due to cardiac arrests . If we talk of Kashmir , nowadays heart attacks have become talk of the town , every day we hear about sudden deaths owing to heart attacks. Doctors as well as the common masses seem in a state of helplessness. Before a couple of years heart attacks were not so common , implying that some change has happened either in our lifestyle or society in general that is paving a way for such serious and worth worrying disorders. Day by day a lot of changes are happening in our lifestyle , three or four years down the line , the depression patients were few , talking of today i think every household has one or two such patients . The recent pandemic caused by covid 19 has hardly left any field of life un disturbed and unaffected. The entire world seems to have come to a stand still irrespective of the degree of technological advancement and availability of resources. The world has witnessed a huge loss and every one seems to be undone and helpless amid this chaos . One of the biggest challenge was not being able to move out of our homes fearing the deadly virus which had made us restricted to our rooms only , and what we did was remaining all time busy with mobile phones , laptops , online classes etc . This i think is the major cause of rising disorders like depression , and not only disorders but also bad habits like drug abuse etc that are on rise today. Drug abuse , smoking etc are the main reasons behind such disorders , like smoking increases blood pressure eventually affecting the heart . Talking of Kashmir , we know of a disease called diabetes that has now become a household name . Diabetes is a very frequently encountered problem , according to a study , one third of Kashmir’s population is either suffering from diabetes or have other diabetic disorders like impaired fasting glucose (IFG) , also termed as pre diabetes . Diabetes has become a serious concern nowadays for the doctors , it remains silent till creating severe disorders in normal functioning of the human body. Due to no seriousness of the patient , diabetes many a times remains undiagnosed , ultimately resulting in high sugar levels in the body , more aptly in medical terms , it is termed as hyperglycaemia . More over it leads to several flinty complications like if we talk of cardiac arrests that have become common nowadays is its tectonic association , but ironically our diabetic patients seem taking this deadly but silent disease very lightly .

Patients having diabetes face a high risk of heart disease , sometimes they are on verge of losing life to heart attack. I personally have noticed many such patients , dying of sudden heart stroke, who were diabetic . Diabetic patients often witness other severe disorders like a diabetic patient might be having high blood pressure problem , some times a diabetic patient ends up having kidney failures or clots in brain , more aptly termed as brain stroke , at times it can lead to death of the patient.
High cholesterol and triglycerides levels in the body are another peculiarities seen in diabetics.
The above cited reasons make diabetics more prone for sudden cardiac arrests.
To evade convolutions down the road , taking decent precautions and preventive measures should be assured. One of the major key precautions is early diagnosis , which unfortunately we lack
.

If we take proper and adequate precautions , such conditions can easily get avoided . The prime and foremost thing we have to go for is to adopt a healthy life style , mainly our food which we eat two or three times a day should be quite healthy , we should refrain from taking unnecessary stress levels which unfortunately nowadays is the most encountered problem . Morning walk is one of the best way to keep the heart healthy .
Moreover the diabetic patients , other than taking such precautions ,should frequently undergo heart check-ups to protect themselves from heart disorders.
Nowadays heart attacks are common , as far as our valley is concerned , it has been felt that the lack of proper knowledge is proving to be fatal . Lack of adequete information among patients causes a delay in properly managing the situation as a result the patients end up having a staid heart issue and eventually fall into the prey of sudden unfortunate attacks.
