The Department of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), District Program Officer Ganderbal on Thursday organized a camp under flagship program Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme in the lawns of Mini Secretariat in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
The camp was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal Shafqat Iqbal in presence of CPO, Ganderbal Anika Mushtaq.
Among others the camp was attended by the Program Officer, ICDS, Bilques Jan, CEO, DPO, CDPOs of block Ganderbal, lar and Kangan besides pregnant and lactating mothers of the district.
The camp was aimed to sensitize the general public about women empowerment and issues related to social, health and female foeticide.
During the camp the participants were also made aware about the activities of the department and ICDS Programme like Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana yojana (PMMVY), Poshan Abhayaan, Scheme for Adolescent Girls (SAG) and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme.
Speaking on the occasion the DC appreciated the ICDS for organizing camp and urged for implementing all schemes in a focused and concerted way so that the derived objectives are achieved.
Later the DC also felicitated the meritorious female students of 10th and 12th class of the district who exceled in the Board exams and other competitive exams besides sports activities.Mothers who have given birth to the girl child were felicitated for the celebration of girl child.
Various gift packets, baby and mother kits consisting of ladies suits and newly born baby kits were distributed among the mothers.
In the inaugural session a calendar diary in the name of girl child was also launched by the Deputy Commissioner.
