Kupwara, Indian Army in its continuous efforts in providing skill and entrepreneurship training to aspiring youth of Kupwara district had inaugurated the “Chef Training Centre” in collaboration with India Infoline Finance Ltd (IIFL).
As per the statement recieved here which reads, Maj Gen Girish Kalia, VSM, GOC, Vajr Division inaugurated the one of its kind Chef Training Centre at Sheikh Ul Alam Complex, Kupwara. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the esteemed Commander Hajipir Brigade, Mr Nirmal Jain, Chairman of IIFL , Mrs Madhu Jain, Director of IIFL and Mr Nikhil Pant, CEO REACHA.
The Chef Training Centre consists of a Culinary Laboratory and an Audio Visual Class Room wherein trainees undergo the nuances of various aspects of cooking skills and hospitality training.
GOC appreciated the efforts of IIFL in providing a platform for the trainees and also motivated them to pursue the course with focus and enthusiasm. This is the second skilling initiative by IIFL in Kupwara after their successful launch of Retail Associate Training Course which has trained 60 beneficiaries in two batches out of which 24 have been placed in various retail sectors. The dignitaries interacted with students undergoing retail associate training as well.
The function included stellar performance by ‘Strings of Baramulla’ Band from Chinar Naujawan Club, Baramulla, which is an initiative of REACHA Foundation. Beneficiaries of retail training were also felicitated with certificates by the dignitaries. The event was indeed a motivating factor for the upcoming chefs who look forward to getting placements in the hospitality industry or to run restaurants/ cafés on their own. These skill development initiatives definitely provide enormous scope for employability in the fast growing hospitality industry in Kashmir as well as India.
