Indian Army says ‘No to drugs, Yes to Football’ ; organizes Football tournament in Sopore

Sopore, Oct 1 : In order to encourage youths towards football and keep them away from drugs, the Indian Army’s Uplona Rashtriya Rifles organized a football tournament at Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

The tournament was organized by Uplona Rashtriya Rifles under the aegis of Headquarter 10 Sector Rashtriya Rifles which concluded on Thursday at Amberpora ground in Tarzoo.

The final match was played between Ningli FC and Delta Force. Delta Force was crowned as the winner of the tournament. Kamran Ahmed Malla was adjudged as the best player of the tournament.

Col HA Waknis, Commanding Officer of Uplona Rashtriya Rifles, Youth committee members of the area, Sports committee members of the area and sarpanches of the nearby villages honoured the event with their presence.

People of the area have shown great enthusiasm and support in the conduct of the event. “Events like these give the budding players an opportunity to showcase their skills and get selected for higher levels”, an Army official said.

Indian Army would like to thank all who have been closely associated with the successful conduct of the event, adding more such events will be held very soon,” he said.
