National Conference Senior Leader and former Legislator from Ganderbal Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar on Saturday raised the issue of shifting of Cluster Branch Ganderbal to Budgam with Advisor K K Sharma and demanded immediate rollback of the order.

In a statement issued here the former MLA said that he today raised the issue of shifting of Cluster Branch Jammu and Kashmir Bank with Advisor K K Sharma and demanded immediate withdrawal of the order.

The bank authorities have decided to shift the Cluster Branch to some other district, the decision to move the branch from the location is a concern for all of us, especially our business community, Ishfaq said.

Jabbar further said that on behalf of the residents, wrote letters to Governor Administration, Financial Commissioner, Board of Directors J&K Bank and others urging them to prevent the moving the Cluster Head Branch.

The bank is known as being the “lender of last resort” whenever the government is short of funds for schemes or salaries, the bank has bailed it out. J&K Bank grew to what it is despite an environment of uncertainty. Whenever others banks left, J&K Bank stayed on, and that somehow gives people here a sense that nothing can happen to it,” Jabbar said.

Sheikh Ishfaq has termed the decision of shifting of cluster branch from Ganderbal as “regressive”, adding that it would have a negative impact on the bank and its functioning in the district.

We will left no stone unturned and if needed will protest against the proposal to move Cluster Bank Branch from Ganderbal.

The bank”s autonomy has to be protected and demands immediate rollback of the order.

The administration must not fiddle with the autonomy of the J&K Bank. The bank is the collective asset of the people of Jammu, Kashmir, he added.
