Karnah: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the potential tourist place Bangus of kupwara district in North kashmir.

Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha today paid a visit to Bangus, where he met several tourists who had come from different parts of the kupwara district to attend the Bangus awam Mela.


During his interaction with the Locals, the Lieutenant Governor enquired about the experiences of their visit to Bangus valley.

Officials said the festival saw participation of hundreds of Gujjars, Bakarwals and other Kashmiri people from Kupwara, Tangdhar and Handwara.

Village Games were also held in Mela which saw competitions like Horse Racing, Sheep Shepherding Challenge, Tugs of War and Wood Chopping Competitions between the Gujjar Bakerwal Community from various Bhaiks who inhabit the beautiful meadows during the summer months.

On the second day of the festival, the audience enjoyed folk songs by the Gujjar community, patriotic songs by the local children.
