J&K Co-ordination Committee of Trade Unions (JKCCTU) expressed its serious concern over recent decision of the Government to fill up all the class IV posts on fast track basis while ignoring the burning issue of Regularisation and wage increase of thousands of temporary workers like casual, contract, Angawadi, Asha workers which is pending before the Government despite the tall claims for their regularisation.
President JKCCTU Mohd Maqbool said that infact all these vacant class IV post are ment for the absorption of these temporary workers as has been the practice in the past especially in works departments like PDD , PHE , R&B etc.
He said that the present UT adminstration is neither creating additional posts for the regularisation of these workers who are working againist the permanent nature of jobs nor absorbing them againist available vacant posts which is very much injustice to them and even againist the commitments of the previous and present Govt,s.
He said that these temporary workers are living in a mesesrable conditions these days and are depressed because of their uncertainty and insecurity about their future jobs.
Moreover these casual ,contract, Aganwadi, Asha and other temporary workers have not been paid their pending wages since last many months which has deteriorated their economic conditions badly under this lock down period.
These employees are working as fronline workers to fight the COVID 19 Pandemic these days and while risking their lives even without proper safety kits are maintaining essencial services like power ,water supply, sanitation, health related activities, food supplies etc.
JKCCTU demands the Govt. to withdraw this decision and ensure filling up of thes class IV vacancies by regularising the services of these daily wagers through the concerned departmental pramotion committees and also ensure releasing of their pending wages before the EID festival.
