Kupwara Journalists’ Fraternity dissolved, re-named

Elections to be held soon, Kamran Ashraf Bhat elected as Interim President of new body 

Kupwara: Members of Journalist Fraternity Kupwara on Monday held hours long  meeting to discuss some important organisational matters and issues faced by working journalists. 

The meeting was headed by Fayaz Hamid, the former President of the Association and attended by around 50 members working for newspapers, credible news agencies, TV channels, news portals and multimedia houses. 
Mr. Hamid resigned from the President post paving way for fresh elections. 

Amin Masoodi, Editor, Curtian Raiser and Abrar Bhat, Managing Editor, also resigned as Vice President and General Secretary positions respectively. 
The meeting unanimously decided to elect Kamran Ashraf, Joint Editor, Inside Kashmir daily, as interim President to head a five member executive body to conduct fresh elections in near future.

The meeting unanimously decided to re-name the ‘Journalist Fraternity Kupwara’  as ‘Journalists & Writers’ Association Kupwara. Besides others, Rasikh Rasool, Editor, Royal Kashmir, Irfan Malik, Reporter Kashmir Crown and Peerzada Rashid Sub-Editor, Quami Times, Tasaduq Hussain, Correspondent, KNO, & Ashraf Charag, Correspondent, Kashmir Uzma, took part in the meeting.
