Lolab: A local medical, Nazir Ahmed Ganie, (NO), official stationed at PHC Lalpora has been suspended after he defied orders from BMO Sogam to accompany the family of a deceased person who had died due to COVID 19.
The order copy in which Nazir Ahmed was deputed for the observation of COVID 19 burial protocol lies in Inside Kashmir office, reads, ‘Sh Nazir Ahmed Ganie NO PHC Lalpora is hereby directed to report Chief Medical Officer Office, Kupwara immediately to accompany with the COViD 19 dead body from Srinagar’.
According to local residents of Lalpora that soon after the body reached Kupwara, non official accompanied the deceased dead body.
One of the family member said, ” We had no idea about how to follow rules for the burial of COVID 19 dead body, prescribed under SOP by Government. Our lives were on stake, who knows what will be consequences of such grave violation from Department”.
When Inside Kashmir contacted concerned BMO Sogam block to comment on this incident, he said, ” I had directed this official to perform this duty but he defied. We have suspended official with immediate effect”.
Later a suspension order was sent from our source in BMO office which reads,’ whereas you were directed to accompany a deceased person who had died due to COVID 19 pandemic, whereas it has come to the notice that you have not obeyed the orders of this office with the result department had to face an embarrassing position before higher-ups. As such you are hereby placed under suspension till further orders ‘
