NEW DELHI : Prime Minister Narendra Modi is now addressing the nation. In his speech, he is expected to spell out India’s plan to fight coronavirus and extension of the 21-day lockdown, which was imposed on March 25 and ends today. A majority of state governments are already in favour of lockdown extension by at least 2 weeks while some of them like Punjab, Odisha, Telangana and Tamil Nadu have already extended it on their own.

PM Modi has signalled a shift in India’s strategy to fight the coronavirus pandemic, with a renewed focus not only on ‘jaan’ (life) but also on ‘jahaan’ (livelihood).

There have been suggestions that districts could be divided into red, orange, and green zones based on the number of COVID-19 cases and that some industries could be allowed to operate in orange and green zones while taking precautions against the disease.
