Srinagar: Nehru Yuva Kendra Srinagar on tuesday orgainsed district-level neighborhood youth parliament program at T K College of education in Lawaypora Srinagar.
As per the handout received by this newspaper reads, based on Y20, which is a part of G20, a day long program was organised by Nehru Yuwa Kendra Srinagar. During the program, the topics which were highlighted were International Year of Millets, Clean India and Catch the Rain.
Mayor Srinagar Junaid Azim Mattu graced the occasion as chief guest alongside with other local dignitaries.
While addressing on the eve, he said, District Level Neighbourhood Youth Parliament dovetailing the theme of Indias’ G20 Presidency ” Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” or ” One Earth, One Family, One Future”. He further said the group of twenty G20 is the premier forum for International economic cooperation. It plays an important role in shaping and strengthening global architecture and governance on all major international economic issues.India holds the presidency of G20 this year.
Shri Shahijahan Chodri SDPO West attended the occasion as ‘Guest of Honour’. While speaking on the occasion, he said that the year 2023 has been declared by the United Nations as the International year of the Millet, following a proposal by India, which wants to position itself as a global hub for Millets. It’s interesting how Millets can help the World face the challenges confronting it.
Rahi Riyaz Ahmed Chairman Ahsan Foundation and TOT NYKS explained aims & objectives about the programme and activities of NYKS. He further said that ancient Indias’ young youthful leader Swami Vivekananda said some morethan 100 years ago that the care the greatest strength of any country and the future of a country is shaped by the efforts of its youth.
Professor Manzoor Ahmad Shah, Director DIQA University of Kashmir delivered his speech on Importance of G20 presidency. Theme of ongoing G20 and Importance of Youth engagement in the context of Y20. He said that G20 presidency steers the G20 agenda for one year and hosts the summit. He further said G20 consists of two parallel tracks, the finance track and Sherpa track.
Smt Nusrat Rehman Principal T K College of Education spoke on Peacebuilding and Reconciliation, Ushering in an era of No War, Youth in democracy and governance.
Shri Hakeem Abdul Aziz Dy Director Nehru Yuva Kendra Srinagar informed the youths about their contribution in nation building and also suggested to store the heir’s water. He said, youth in democracy and governance as a theme are not only apt in the whole of G20 and Y20 meets, it is also the need of times as the century belongs to todays youth.
Ajaz Ahmed, Instructor Disaster Management spoke on Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction, Making sustainability a way of life. He also suggested to promote sports and physical activities to the youths to stay fit & healthy.
Syed Gulzar Ahmed Shah District Agriculture Officer Srinagar while communicating on the occasion threw light on, Focus on mission life and international year of Millets.
Shri Touseef Ahmad, SHO Shaltang also attended the programme.
Notably, during the proceedings, various cultural activities were also displayed in which the youth took part througly & more than 240 youth attended the said programme. (Press Releases).
