Pattan, 03 July :Inhabitants of Singhpora pattan of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district staged protest demonstration against Jalshakti department on Friday .
Local residents of this area are facing immense problems due to non-availability of drinking water in the area, “It has been more than a year that the area is without proper water supply” said a protester Majid Ayoub.
The protesters included children, women assembled and raised slogans against the department, the residents have been complaining of severe shortage of drinking water since a year and they had to wait in queues for hours to fill buckets with water from tankers.
Residents alleged that due to callous attitude of the department, the issue was not addressed even after giving several reminders to the concerned authorities.
We the locals are suffering badly for want of potable water, we approached concerned department many times but no action were seen by them, with the result we protested against the department today.
Meanwhile, Tehsildar Singhpora Nisar Ahmad, SHO Pattan and DO Mirgund went to the spot and assured the protesters to redress the issue soon and will be conveyed it to the concerned department also.
However the protesters dispersed peacefully after the assurance of Tehsildar Singhpora.
