Sopore : Sports Festival organized by Sopore Police under Civic Action Programme was inaugurated at Khushal Sports Stadium Sopore

The festival was inaugurated by Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) north Kashmir, Suleman Choudhary (IPS).

The inaugural matche of Cricket was played between Syndicate 11 and Sopore Strikers, Volleyball match between Zaingeer 11 vs Sopore Police and Football match between Khushal Tulibal Sopore vs Janwara Football Club.

On this occasion Commander 05 Sector RR, SSP Sopore, Javaid Iqbal,  CO 22 RR and other senior Police officers were present.

Besides officials from Police and Army, other civil dignitaries including BDC members, Panch, Sarpanches, Traders Federations, Fruit growers association and others were part of the inaugural ceremony.

The chief Guest, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) North Kashmir, Suleman Choudhary while interacting with the players and other audience said that J&K Police has started sports activities across the J&K UT with the sole aim to provide best platform to the youths, so that they can excel their talent in their respective sports activity.

In this event 100 cricket teams, 32 football teams and 32 volleyball teams are participating.

The participants have shown extra ordinary enthusiasm and applauded the Police department for organizing the sports festival.

Meanwhile Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) North was talking to media on the sidelines of a sports event in Sopore said, that the cases related drugs are on rise in Sopore town and efforts are on to provide all possible support to victims for making their lives better.

He said drug de-addiction rehabilitation centre for Sopore town is on cards and the police are working on it. He said the police is doing its legal duty for the youths who were slapped PSA on charge of drugs.

He said: “We too are part of this society and it’s our responsibility to guide the youths who are being involved in drugs.” He said there should be a difference between drug peddler and the victim of drug addiction.

“Whatever steps are necessary for the rehabilitation of the affected youth, police will not shy away from its responsibility”, DIG added.
