Handwara; Construction of roads undertaken by the Roads and Buildings Department in various blocks of the district have come under scanner after residents alleged that substandard materia.
Residents of Badbug village of Qaziabad in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district on today held protest demonstration against R&B Department for using Substandard Material on the Construction of Budbug road .
Inhabitants of Bonkoot block of Qaziabad lodged a complaint with the concerned Executive Engineer alleging that contractors are using substandard material in construction of roads and retaining walls in the are
“The concerned contractors are using Big Boulders instead of Bad material. These contractors openly violate rules by using unapproved material. We appeal the concerned department to take action against the unscrupulous contractors,” they said.
The angry residents forced labourers to stop the work. They requested Deputy Commissioner Kupwara and ADC Handwara to order a probe into construction of the roads by the concerned department.
Executive Engineer R&B Handwara told Ik said based on the complaint I will check to what extent is correct.
