Three Months On, PDD Fails To Repair Damaged Transformer In Sopore Village, Residents Stage Protest

Sopore, Jan 08 : Inhabitants of Magrapora village in north Kashmir’s Sopore town on Friday afternoon staged a protest against the Power Development Department (PDD), alleging that the department has failed to repair a damaged transformer in the area for last 3 Months.

An eyewitness told, the protesters were raising slogans against the department for failing to repair their damaged transformer.

Protesters had blocked Sopore-Bandipora road which affects the normal traffic for some time, he added.

Locals over phone call while talking with the Correspondent said, concerned department seems in a no mood to resolve our genuine issue, we are facing it since months and they (department) has failed in redressing our demand.

In absence of electricity, We are facing huge inconvenience in this harsh period, and our children’s are suffering by this as they are not able to study under darkness, they added

We have visited the department many times but to no avail, as the officials didn’t pay any heed to our sufferings, they further added.

However the protesters later on dispersed peacefully upon being pacified by a Police team assuring that, their genuine demand will be taken up with the concerned department.

Meanwhile despite repeated attempts Official at Power Development Department (PDD) Sopore could not be contacted as he didn’t answer the phone calls from this correspondent.
