Unprecedented hike in Petrol and Diesel, District President AICC led a protest

Kupwara 29 june 2020:- Haji Faröoq MIR President District Congress Committee Kupwara, Member AICC, led a protest along with other congress members against the BJP govt over the unprecedented hike in petrol and diesel prices and said it crippled the people at a time of economic instability imposed by continued national lockdown.

Due to Covid-19 Pandemic fuel prices all over the world has dropped and despite having full stock of fuel, govt has burdened the common man by persistent increase in fuel prices for last 20 days. Haji Faröoq MIR alleged Modi Govt. that continuous hike in fuel prices has not been affected in past 70 years and common man has been severely hit by recent hikes. From the past 6 consecutive years central govt has collected
more than Rs 28 lakh crores by hike in excise duty on petrol and diesel.
Haji Faröoq MIR accused Modi govt on ignoring common mans voice and formulating anti people policies to deal with the economic instability by passing burden to masses. Haji Farooq Mir and other party activists held demonstrations at DC office Kupwara and raised slogans against the BJP Government over the rising fuel prices across the country and demanded to roll back the recent hikes.
Later, District Congress Committe Kupwara submitted a memorandum to President of India through, District Commissioner Kupwara, Shri Ansul Garg (IAS) after the protest demanding immediate roll back of fuel price rise.
Farooq Mir said during the last three and half month, the BJP Govt has increased 21/ petrol and Rs. 26 on diesel extorting from people, putting heavy burden on the people, which is absolutely unjustified and deserves strong condemnation.
Haji Farooq said the wrong polices adopted by the Modi Govt led to economic devastation and continuous hike in fuel prices despite the price of crude oil globally is all time low. The Modi govt is profiteering at the expense of the people when they were already economic losses.
The excise duty was 9.20 per litre on petrol and Rs. 3.46 per litre on diesel whereas in six years after assuming power Modi Govt has increased it to Rs. 23.78 on petrol and Rs. 28.37 on Diesel per litre increasing it to 820 % on diesel and 258% on petrol.
Senior leaders who joined the protest led by Haji Faröoq Mir were Gh Mohd Wani , Nazir Ahmad Lone , Bashir Ahmad Mir Kulangam ,Mohd Maqbool Malik , Bashir Ahmad Mir Kralpora, Murtaza Maqbool Wani , Abdul Ahad Shah , Gh Hassan Dar , Irshad Ahmad Mir Haihama , Gh Hassan Mir Haihama, Gh Mohidin Khan, Gh Ahmad Mir Lalpora , Mushtaq Ahmad Malik Kupwara along with other senior deligates.
