CNMS-DAIC Invites Ex-CJI Balakrishnan for Seminar on Constitution, Civic Duties and India’s 80th Year of Independence

 CNMS Organise Seminar on Constitutional Values as India Marks 80 Years of Independence; Focus on Inspiring Gen Z,

New Delhi, August 10: As India prepares to celebrate the 80th Independence Day, the Centre for NaMo Studies (CNMS) in collaboration with the DAIC, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment will organise a National Seminar on "Constitutional Values and Fundamental Duties" on August 12, 2026, at 4:30 PM at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi.

Hon'ble Former Chief Justice of India Justice K. G. Balakrishnan will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest on "Constitutional Values and Fundamental Duties." He will speak on the enduring relevance of the Constitution, the rule of law, judicial independence, constitutional morality, and the vital role of fundamental duties in strengthening India's democratic fabric.

Held in the backdrop of 80 years of India's independence, the seminar seeks to reaffirm the ideals that have guided the Republic since 1947 and to encourage citizens—particularly Generation Z—to embrace the Constitution not merely as a legal document but as a living guide for responsible citizenship, national unity, and democratic participation.

The programme will also feature the release of the book Beyond the Brief: Jurisprudential Shifts in the Apex Court, authored by Dr. Anu Bhuvanachandran, with a foreword by former Justice B. R. Gavai. The book aims to bridge the gap between constitutional jurisprudence and the common citizen by presenting significant judicial developments and constitutional principles in an accessible and engaging manner.

Prof. Jasim Mohammad, Managing Trustee of the Centre for NaMo Studies, said that the 80th anniversary of India's Independence offers an important moment to reflect not only on the nation's achievements but also on the constitutional values that have sustained Indian democracy. He noted that empowering Gen Z with constitutional literacy and a strong sense of civic responsibility is essential for realising the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.
