Mandi Gobindgarh, July 14: In a significant step towards strengthening academia-industry collaboration, Desh Bhagat University (DBU) and the Chandigarh Management Association (CMA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote research, mentorship, innovation, and industry-driven education.
The MoU was formally signed by Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University, and Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Pro-Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University, in the presence of Dr. Tulika Mehta, CEO, Technology Business Incubator (TBI), DBU. Representing the Chandigarh Management Association were Er. Abhishek Gupta, President, CMA, and Dr. Navjot Kaur, General Secretary, CMA, along with other office bearers of the association.
The collaboration aims to create a dynamic platform for academic excellence, innovation, and industry engagement through a range of joint initiatives. Under the MoU, both organisations will work together on collaborative research projects, promote knowledge-sharing, establish mentorship programmes connecting students and young entrepreneurs with experienced industry professionals, and develop industry-led courses aligned with emerging market needs in association with CMA member organisations.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University, said that the partnership marks a significant milestone in bridging the gap between academia and industry. He emphasized that the collaboration will equip students with practical knowledge, industry exposure, and experiential learning opportunities, enabling them to become future-ready professionals and innovators.
Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Pro-Chancellor, highlighted that the University remains committed to building meaningful partnerships with professional bodies to enrich academic programmes and foster a culture of research, entrepreneurship, and innovation among students and faculty.
Addressing the gathering, Er. Abhishek Gupta, President of the Chandigarh Management Association, said that the collaboration reflects CMA's commitment to nurturing talent and promoting innovation by connecting educational institutions with the wider industry ecosystem. He expressed confidence that the partnership would create valuable opportunities for students, researchers, entrepreneurs, and industry experts to collaborate on impactful initiatives.
Both institutions expressed confidence that the MoU would pave the way for long-term cooperation in research, skill development, innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry-academia engagement, thereby contributing to the development of a highly skilled and future-ready workforce.
