DBU Explores Global Ayurveda Ties with Ghana Delegation
Mandi Gobindgarh, September 11: Desh Bhagat Ayurvedic College & Hospital (DBAC&H), Desh Bhagat University, hosted a high-level delegation from Ghana (West Africa) led by Prof. Raphael Nyarkotey, Founder and President, Nyarkotey College of Holistic Medicine, Ghana, along with 20 naturopathy professionals. The visit was held with the objective of exploring Ayurveda, knowledge exchange, research and international academic collaboration.
The visit was organised under the expert vision and guidance of Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University. Dr. Sudhir Batish, MD, Deshavri Global Pharmaceuticals LLP, played a pivotal role in facilitating and strengthening the prestigious academic and professional bond between Desh Bhagat Ayurvedic College & Hospital and Nyarkotey College of Holistic Medicine, Ghana.
The Ghanaian delegation was warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr. Kulbhushan, Director, Desh Bhagat Ayurvedic College & Hospital and Director Campus, DBU; Dr. Hemraj Rana, Principal, DBAC&H; and Dr. Jyoti H. Dhami, Medical Superintendent, Desh Bhagat Hospital & DBAC&H.
During the interaction, detailed discussions were held on the significance, scope and benefits of Ayurveda. Dr. Hemraj Rana delivered a Power Point presentation highlighting the principles, applications and growing relevance of Ayurveda in healthcare. Dr. Jyoti H. Dhami gave a detailed presentation on Desh Bhagat University, its achievements and rich legacy.
The visiting delegation also toured the Desh Bhagat Ayurvedic Herbal Garden and the Desh Bhagat Ayurvedic College, gaining first-hand insight into the University's academic, clinical and herbal resources.
Prof. Raphael Nyarkotey, a Ghanaian Professor of Naturopathic Healthcare, lawyer, researcher, author, health policy advocate and academic leader, is recognised for his significant contribution to the promotion of naturopathy and holistic healthcare in Africa.
During the meeting, both institutions expressed their commitment to strengthening academic and professional cooperation. The following areas of collaboration were mutually discussed: Student exchange programmes focusing on academics and research in Ayurveda between DBAC&H and Nyarkotey College of Holistic Medicine, Ghana. Joint promotion of Ayurveda in Ghana through active academic and professional collaboration. Joint seminars, conferences and academic and research programmes in Ayurveda and allied areas.
Initiation of discussions for introducing future Ayurveda courses in Ghana, subject to the applicable regulatory, council and legal requirements.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University, said that international partnerships and interdisciplinary collaborations were central to the University's vision of creating globally competent professionals.

Dr. Zora Singh further said that DBU had developed an educational framework and pedagogy aligned with the aspirations of 21st-century youth who seek to become global citizens. He emphasised that the University was committed to providing opportunities across healthcare, agriculture, management, technology, science and humanities, enabling students to progress from academic education to professional excellence.
