Mandi Gobindgarh, July 21: The School of Pharmacy, Desh Bhagat University (DBU) successfully organized a Five-Day Online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on the theme "Transforming Pharmaceutical Sciences through Innovation, Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Therapeutics".

The programme was designed to strengthen the academic and research capabilities of faculty members by providing insights into emerging trends in pharmaceutical sciences, artificial intelligence (AI), nanotechnology, precision medicine, advanced therapeutics, and innovative teaching methodologies.

The FDP commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Puja Gulati, Principal/Director, School of Pharmacy, D B U, who warmly welcomed Hon'ble Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh, distinguished resource persons, faculty members from Desh Bhagat University and other institutions, and participants from across the country.

In his message, Dr. Zora Singh, DBU Chancellor, emphasized that artificial intelligence and advanced technologies are revolutionizing healthcare and pharmaceutical sciences. He encouraged educators and researchers to embrace innovation and continuously upgrade their knowledge to prepare future healthcare professionals for global challenges.

The programme featured a distinguished panel of experts, including Mr. Vipan Sharma, Pharma Expert and GMP Specialist; Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, Professor and Dean, Faculty of Medicine, and Former Head & Director, Centre for Product Development through Novel Technology Intervention; Dr. Anjana Bali, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacology, School of Health Sciences, Central University of Punjab, Bathinda; Dr. Rajesh Dey, Principal & Director, Camellia Institute of Engineering and Technology (MAKAUT) and Postdoctoral Fellow, IIUM Malaysia; and Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Senior Researcher, National Institute of Malaria Research (ICMR), New Delhi.

The expert sessions covered a wide range of contemporary topics, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Documentation Practices (GDP), AI-driven pharmaceutical research, artificial intelligence in drug discovery, machine learning applications, precision medicine, nanotechnology-based therapeutics, predictive modelling, AI-assisted neuropharmacology, and ligand-decorated nanostructured carrier systems for targeted antimalarial drug delivery.

The interactive sessions enabled participants to gain practical insights into quality management systems, AI-assisted drug development, innovative research methodologies, and advanced therapeutic technologies. The programme also encouraged interdisciplinary collaboration and meaningful discussions with leading experts from academia and research.

The valedictory session was addressed by Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, Vice-Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University, who congratulated the organizing team, resource persons, and participants for the successful completion of the FDP. He highlighted the importance of continuous faculty development and urged educators to integrate emerging technologies and research-driven approaches into pharmaceutical education to enhance academic excellence and innovation.
