SRINAGAR, June 11: The long-awaited four-laning project of the National Highway from Narbal to Delina is progressing steadily, with authorities focusing on the construction of the 1.7-km Delina flyover, expected to be completed within the next few months.

Project Manager Naveed Ahmad said work on the flyover is being carried out round the clock and is progressing according to the project's timeline.

He said the entire four-laning project covers a 22-km stretch between Narbal and Delina, including the Delina flyover but excluding Pattan Bypass which is around 11kms.

"The stretch from Narbal to Sangrama has largely been completed, although macadamisation is still required at some locations and that work is also underway," he said.

Ahmad said the Delina flyover remains the primary focus of the project and is being executed as a time-bound assignment.

"The overall work is expected to take nearly three months, but we will make every effort to complete it well before the deadline," he said.

He added that macadamisation and patchwork are being undertaken simultaneously at various locations and that the entire project, including the flyover and associated road works, will be ready for public use after completion.

Meanwhile, MLA Wagoora-Kreeri Assembly constituency, Irfan Hafeez Lone said the widening of the National Highway was a long-pending demand of the people and that significant progress had been made on the project.

"The work had earlier faced interruptions, but construction is now moving swiftly. We are hopeful that the remaining work will be completed within a reasonable timeframe and in record time," Lone said.

The MLA stressed that quality should not be compromised while expediting the project.

"The construction process must be accelerated, but there should be no compromise on quality," he said.

Highlighting the benefits of the project, Lone said travel between Baramulla and Srinagar had already become easier at several locations due to the completed portions of the highway.

He said the full completion of the project would further improve traffic movement and reduce travel time for commuters.

Officials said the flyover is likely to be opened to traffic within the next two to three months, providing major relief to commuters travelling on the busy highway corridor.
