Poonch, July 14: The two-day District Poonch Gateball Coaching Camp 2026 concluded successfully at BSF Ground, Rajpura Mandi, Poonch (J&K) with the enthusiastic participation of 60 athletes from the district.
Shri Gajender Kumar (2IC), 53 BN BSF, graced the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest. Shri Abhay Matho (Deputy Commandant), 53 BN BSF Mandi Mandir Poonch, Ms. Dhania Sharma (Physical Educator), and the President, General Secretary, and Treasurer of the J&K Gateball Union were present as the Guests of Honour.
Addressing the participants, the Chief Guest appreciated the efforts of the organisers in promoting Gateball in the region and distributed Certificates of Appreciation to all the participants. He also assured full support for the successful conduct of the 2nd National Gateball Championship 2026, which is scheduled to be held at Mandi, Poonch next month.
Speaking on the occasion, Sahil Ali Beigh, General Secretary, J&K Gateball Union, expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, Guests of Honour, participants, officials, coaches, and the 53 BN BSF for their valuable support and cooperation in making the coaching camp a grand success.
The coaching camp was organised by the District Poonch Gateball Union under the aegis of the J&K Gateball Union in collaboration with 53 BN BSF, Mandi Mandir, Poonch, with the objective of preparing players for the upcoming National Gateball Championship and promoting the sport at the grassroots level.
