A security guard was injured after shots were fired outside the coaching institute of noted educator Khan Sir near Musallahpur Haat in Patna on Tuesday, prompting a police investigation into the incident.

According to police, the injured guard was rushed to a hospital for treatment following the firing incident.

Speaking to ANI, Superintendent of Police (SP) Kartikeya K. Sharma said the matter was being investigated and statements of the injured guard and local residents were being recorded.

“This is a case involving physical assault. It has been reported that the guard sustained injuries, and further action is being taken after recording his statement as well as the statements of local people. The injured person is currently undergoing treatment,” Sharma said.

Following the incident, senior police officials, including the Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), SP and multiple police teams, reached the spot and launched an investigation.

Khan Sir alleged that individuals associated with a nearby coaching institute could be behind the attack. He claimed that the incident may be linked to competition among coaching centres and his institute’s growing popularity among students.

“The main issue seems to be why we are teaching at such low fees and producing such large results. When thousands of students succeed, some anti-social elements feel threatened,” Khan Sir said.

He further alleged that the attackers vandalised the coaching centre premises and opened fire before fleeing the scene.

“The attackers completely vandalised the office and opened fire. CCTV footage has been handed over to the authorities. Our security guard has also identified the perpetrators. We need protection, and it is now for the administration to act,” he said.

Khan Sir also claimed that there had been threats against his coaching institute in the past and urged the authorities to ensure adequate security.

Police have not yet confirmed the motive behind the incident and said investigations are underway.
