Rajouri: Under the able guidance of Shri Abhishek Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, and the patronage of Mohammad Hafeez, Chief Education Officer Rajouri, Government Boys Model Higher Secondary School (GBMHSS), Rajouri organized a thought-provoking Symposium on “Nasha Mukt Bharat” (Drug-Free India) to create awareness among students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and to promote a culture of healthy living, responsibility and positive engagement among youth.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of students and teachers representing various educational institutions of the district. Students from Government Boys Model HSS Rajouri, Government Girls Model HSS Rajouri, Himalayan Education Mission School Rajouri, National Public School Rajouri and Himalayan Super School Dhangri participated in the symposium and presented their views on the causes, consequences and prevention of drug addiction.
Sardari Lal District Education Planning Officer (DEPO), Rajouri, attended the programme as the Chief Guest, while Maqbool Hussain, Principal, GHSS Kulgam, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest highlighted the growing challenge of drug abuse and emphasized the need for a collective response involving educational institutions, parents, law-enforcement agencies and society at large. He urged students to remain focused on their studies, adopt healthy habits and contribute actively to the anti-drug movement.
Speaking on the occasion, Maqbool Hussain stressed the importance of value-based education and character building in protecting young people from social evils. He encouraged students to channel their energies towards education, sports, creative pursuits and community service.
The participants eloquently expressed their views on the devastating impact of drug addiction on individuals, families and society. They advocated greater awareness, counselling, community participation and youth empowerment as effective measures to eradicate the menace of drugs.
Among the prominent dignitaries and officials present on the occasion were Umesh Sharma, Fazal Hussain (Vice Principal), Dr Laxmi Narayan, besides other members of the teaching and non-teaching staff of Government Boys Model Higher Secondary School, Rajouri.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Muhammad Muslim Wani, Principal, Government Boys Model HSS Rajouri, followed by a pledge by all participants to remain committed to the cause of a Drug-Free India and to spread awareness against substance abuse in their respective communities.
The symposium proved to be a meaningful and impactful initiative, reflecting the commitment of Government Boys Model Higher Secondary School Rajouri towards nurturing informed, responsible and socially conscious citizens.
