As preparations intensify for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026 (SANJY-2026), Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu zone, Bhim Sen Tuti, conducted a detailed review of security arrangements at the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas base camp and its surrounding areas on Monday.
A police spokesperson said that the IGP was accompanied by DIG Jammu-Poonch Range Shridhar Patil, SSP Jammu Joginder Singh and other senior police officers during the inspection aimed at assessing on-ground preparedness for the annual pilgrimage.
During the visit, the officers undertook a comprehensive assessment of security deployment, access control systems, surveillance mechanisms, traffic management plans, and other logistical arrangements put in place for the smooth conduct of the Yatra.
The review focused on ensuring that all security and facilitation measures are fully operational before the arrival of pilgrims.
Taking stock of the arrangements, IGP Bhim Sen Tuti directed officers to further strengthen security measures, enhance surveillance, and maintain heightened vigilance at all critical points in and around the base camp.
He also stressed the need for seamless coordination among police, security forces, civil administration, and other stakeholder agencies involved in Yatra management.
The IGP emphasised that the safety and convenience of pilgrims remain the top priority and instructed officers to ensure robust access control, effective crowd management and prompt response mechanisms to deal with any contingency during the pilgrimage period.
Senior officers also reviewed traffic regulation plans around the Bhagwati Nagar base camp to facilitate the smooth movement of yatris and prevent congestion.
Directions were issued to ensure proper monitoring of entry and exit points and to strengthen security in peripheral areas.
