The Indian Embassy in Beijing on Tuesday hosted a hands-on workshop on the vibrant traditional art of Madhubani, organised by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations in collaboration with Routes2Roots.

"Art enthusiasts explored the intricate patterns, vivid colours and timeless traditions of this beautiful Indian folk art, bringing a little piece of India's rich artistic heritage to life in Beijing," the embassy said in a post on X.

The Consulate of India in Shanghai, led by CG Pratik Mathur, organised an interactive workshop dedicated to the traditional Indian art of Madhubani.

The event held on Monday was attended by nearly 200 representatives from the Indian diaspora and Friends of India in China, the Consulate said in a post on X.

Inaugurating the proceedings, Mathur underlined the important role played by India's folk and cultural traditions in preserving our unique identity, bringing together India's vibrant community and helping to promote our country's cultural heritage, it said.

He said Madhubani, which originates from the Mithila region of Bihar, enjoys a unique place in India's civilisational history and culture.

On the occasion, the Consul General was happy to meet and felicitate young students like Han and Liu from the reputed Shanghai Jincai International School, who visited India recently as part of a student exchange program, and are now developing an innovative technology platform to bring greater awareness and foster better understanding in the region for traditional Indian art forms like Madhubani, it said.
