MOSCOW, Aug 9: Russian Geran strike drones hit Ukrainian military warehouses storing unmanned aerial vehicles, drone components and electronic equipment in Ukraine's Kharkiv region, Russia's Defence Ministry said on Sunday.
The strikes targeted warehouses near the settlements of Savyntsi, Zidky, Barvinkove and Volokhiv Yar, the ministry said in a statement accompanying video footage of the attacks.
"The Russian Defence Ministry has published footage of Geran strike UAV teams striking Ukrainian armed forces warehouses containing various types of unmanned aerial vehicles, their components and electronic equipment near the settlements of Savintsy [Savyntsi], Zidki [Zidky], Barvenkovo [Barvinkove], and Volokhov Yar [Volokhiv Yar] in the Kharkov Region," the ministry said.
It said the strikes had been confirmed in real time by surveillance systems.
There was no immediate comment from Ukrainian authorities on the Russian claims.
Separately, five Ukrainian drones were shot down over Russia's Ryazan region overnight, with no casualties or damage reported, regional Governor Pavel Malkov said on Sunday.
"Five UAVs [unmanned aerial vehicles] were shot down over the Ryazan Region overnight. There were no injuries or damage," Malkov said in a social media post.
Russia's Defence Ministry said earlier on Sunday that its air defence systems had destroyed 153 Ukrainian drones over several Russian regions overnight. (UNI)
